Michelle says
Hi there. I want to make this for a bake sale at school but I don’t want to waste condensed milk. So here is a question, how do I adapt the recipe to use a whole tin of condensed milk?
Jessica Holmes says
Hi Michelle, here in Australia, one tin of sweetened condensed milk equals about 1 cup so there shouldn’t be any wastage.
Amrita Vishram says
Hi. Jessica. I just saw ur recipe n really wanna try it out. However not sure on which type of cookies to use. Please let me know asap wanna make them tomorrow 🙂
Jessica Holmes says
Hi Amrita, most plain sweet store bought biscuits will be ok. I usually use Digestives or you could use graham crackers etc.
jo parker says
you left out an important step of pressng crushed biscuits into the pan before adding the chocolate icing! sorry. #justsaying.
Jessica Holmes says
Hi Jo, the cookies are mentioned in step 2 of the recipe – they get mixed with the coconut, chocolate and Rice Bubbles – hope that helps.
Ess says
Can I freeze this slice?
Jessica Holmes says
Hi Ess, to be honest, I’ve never frozen it – it always goes too fast! But I think it might go a little soggy in the freezer.
Kristie says
I have made this slice a few times now and I sneakily cut it up into bite size pieces, wrap in gladwrap and freeze in a container. I pull out a couple of pieces for the kids to take to cricket or school when needed. (If I don’t do it straight away the kids eat it all:)
Jessica Holmes says
That’s a great idea Kristie! Love that!
Ingrid says
Hi again Jess, I’ve made this slice a couple of times now, and each time I get slightly different degrees of crispy-ness with the rice bubbles…. I’m not sure what I’ve done differently though… As you are queen of awesome recipes, do you have any tips for keeping rice bubbles crispy?
Jessica Holmes says
Hi Ingrid! Great question! I’ve had that happen before when my Rice Bubbles aren’t fresh. If they’ve been sitting in the cupboard for a bit (even if they taste ok) I find they don’t have the same resilience to moisture. Try using a new box of Rice Bubbles next time and see if that helps. Also when adding the liquid ingredients, stir quickly and press into your tin straight away. If you let it sit for a few minutes you run the risk of the cereal going a little soggy. Alternatively, you can leave them out and use 50 grams extra crushed cookies. Hope that helps – and thank you for trying one of my recipes! ☺️
