You’ll love these gorgeous no bake Rice Krispie Bars. With an Oreo cookie crust and a crunchy topping made with chocolate, peanut butter and Rice Krispies, it’s the perfect 6 ingredient dessert.
Crunchy peanut butter chocolate goodness ❤️
I’m here to make your Thursday just that little bit sweeter with these Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Bars, AKA my latest chocolate obsession.
These deliciously easy, no bake treats have a crumbly Oreo crust and crunchy choc topping made with chocolate, peanut butter and rice cereal.
I get it. Some days you don’t want to spend hours slaving away in the kitchen. I love easy desserts and no bake treats JUST as much as the next person. So when you get a treat that looks like this and only requires 6 ingredients, you know you have a winner.
Ever since I made my Peanut Butter Chocolate Crunch Pie, I have been obsessed with chocolate and rice cereal. Oh actually, I think it started with my Candy Crunch Chocolate Bar.
Either way, if you haven’t tried adding melted chocolate and rice cereal together, you are missing out my friend. This stuff is PURE GOLD. So how do you take that perfect combination and make the ultimate treat?
Add peanut butter of course! So now we’ve got a sweet, salty, crunchy treat. And there was only one more way to make these bars even better. And that was by adding an Oreo crust. #heaven
So there’s really not that much more to the story. All you need to do is crush some Oreo cookies to make a cookie crust. Then melt together a mix of milk chocolate, dark chocolate and peanut butter.
Add rice cereal and away you go! A little time in the fridge and these Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Bars are ALL YOURS. Warning: they’re addictive!
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from American baking, it’s to never limit cereal to just breakfast. Cereal is an all-day thing and that includes dessert! Did you catch my Froot Loop Cake last week?

Let’s Bake
Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Bars
No bake chocolate peanut butter Rice Krispie bars with an Oreo crust
Ingredients
- 300 grams (approximately 30) Oreo cookies
- 115 grams (1/2 cup or 1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 200 grams (1 and 1/3 cup) good quality milk chocolate
- 200 grams (1 and 1/3 cup) good quality dark chocolate
- 125 grams (1/2 cup) smooth peanut butter
- 120 grams (3 cups) Rice Krispies or Rice Bubbles
Instructions
- Lightly grease and line an 8-inch square pan with baking or parchment paper, ensuring two sides overhang.
- Add Oreo cookies to food processor and whiz until crushed into fine crumbs. Pour over butter and mix well. Place your crumbs into your prepared pan and press down gently to form one even layer. Pop in the fridge.
- Add milk chocolate and dark chocolate to a heat-proof bowl and melt in the microwave, stirring every 20 seconds. Add peanut butter and stir until smooth. Pop back in the microwave until smooth if it’s still lumpy.
- Add rice cereal to a large bowl. Pour over melted chocolate mixture. Stir quickly to completely cover cereal in chocolate. Pour over Oreo crust and smooth the top with a small spatula or the back of a dessert spoon.
- Place in the fridge for 1 hour or until set. Cut into squares and store slice in the fridge.

Hi Ravi, ys you can! You might just need to add a touch more chocolate if your mixture is looking a little dry. Hope you enjoy them!
Anna says
Hi, those look so yummy. Do you think I can omit peanut butter and replace it with something else other than nut butter. Perhaps I add more chocolate ?
Jessica Holmes says
Hi Anna, yes you can! Just add a little bit more chocolate to make sure the rice cereal is completely coated.
Cora says
These look good
Would they work without the Oreo bottom
Jessica Holmes says
Yes for sure!
Kelly says
What chocolate do you use in your recipe?
Jessica Holmes says
Hi Kelly, I usually use a brand of chocolate we have here in Australia called Nestle Plaistowe. But any regular block of chocolate should be fine – I recommend that over chocolate chips or melts.

These are addicting and very easy to make! Perfect for Christmas gifts. I scaled down on the milk chocolate and added more dark chocolate instead to reduce the sweetness. My family said it was delicious!
Thank you for sharing! 🙂

Love hearing that! So glad you enjoyed them!
Cathy says
Can you use natural peanut butter?
Jessica Holmes says
Hi Cathy, it may affect the texture as most natural pbs tend to be quite runny. But since there’s plenty of chocolate I think it’d be ok. If you try it, let me know how you go!

I used good quality chocolate and the top and bottom came apart. The chocolate did not set before I was done spreading…they were stuck together when the chocolate was melted but then when it set the two layers separated.
Jessica Holmes says
Hi Katherine, sorry to hear that. If you used good quality chocolate and spread it quickly, I’m not sure why that happened. My only other thought is perhaps there were too many Rice Krispies and not enough chocolate. The right ratio will ensure there is enough chocolate at the bottom to stick to the crust. I would be sure to measure the rice cereal next time by weight or even try adding 1/4 cup less. Thank you for trying one of my recipes!

I made these in mini muffin tins. Turned out awesome. I made this batch for coworkers I followed the ingredient list…but as I’m allergic to peanuts next time I will use cashew or almond butter. so I can have some. 😊
The mini muffin tins made about 30 give/take

Just made these why did my topand bottom come apart they did stick together was a mess cutting them
Jessica Holmes says
Hi, thanks for your comment. I think perhaps the chocolate may have set too quickly before it had a chance to stick to the Oreo crust. Next time, make sure you use good quality chocolate and avoid chocolate melts that are designed to set very quickly. Make sure you move quickly when you come to adding the chocolate and pouring the mixture over the crust. Hope that helps!
Debbie says
How long will these keep for please
★★★★★
Jessica Holmes says
Hi Debbie, these keep well for 3-4 days in the fridge 😊
