I’m officially writing a Sweetest Menu cookbook! After 11 years of writing and publishing recipes, I’m going to print. And I need your help to know what recipes need to be included! Something Sweet is now available for pre-order.

EDIT: My cookbook, titled Something Sweet is now available for pre-order. It will be officially published 30 June 2016.
It’s true, It’s true! I’m writing a cookbook.
After developing, writing and publishing recipes right here on Sweetest Menu for 11 years (eleven! Can you believe it?) my dream of releasing a cookbook is finally coming true.
It’s going to be a collection of amazing home bakes that anyone can make. And just like all my recipes here on Sweetest Menu, it’s going to focus on simplicity, deliciousness and all things sweet.
It is due to be published and on shelves by 30 June 2026 – and pre-orders will open at the beginning of March (so stay tuned!).
Thank you
If there is one thing I believe now more than ever, it’s that baking is good for the soul. It brings joy to my life every single day, and I know, without a doubt, that thousands of people all over the world feel the same way.
Not a day goes by that I don’t get a comment from someone telling me how much they love my Apple Cinnamon Cake or how they’ve finally conquered making thick cookies from scratch, thanks to my NYC Cookie recipe.
You’ve made my recipes for birthdays, celebrations, graduations and baby showers.
You’ve gifted them to new parents, brightened the day of your co-workers and shared them with neighbours, family and friends.
And now I get to package all of YOUR favourite recipes up and put them in a fabulous, real-deal, tangible book.
The book
The book is also going to be jam-packed with plenty of NEW recipes that won’t be published here or anywhere else – and trust me, you’ll want some of these in your life.
I’ve had to keep this cookbook a secret for the best part of this year, but I’ve been bursting to tell you! Hopefully it explains why there haven’t been many new recipes published on the blog this year.
I’ve been working non-stop in the kitchen for the past three months to develop new recipes for the book and it’s been the most hectic, wonderful, stressful and exciting period of my life.
Come along and see all the madness day-to-day by joining me on Instagram or YouTube.

I need your help
I plan on sharing more behind-the-scenes content about what goes into making and publishing a cookbook. BUT now I have a favour to ask of you!
I’m finalising the table of contents and chapters for the book but I want to make sure YOUR favourite Sweetest Menu recipes are included.
Can you comment below or send me an email at jessica@sweetestmenu.com with the recipe/s YOU want included in this book!
I want to make sure I’m including all your favourites, so now’s the time to send in your requests.
Happy baking,
Jess XX
P.S. I would like to note that this ‘dream come true’ moment has been years in the making. I started to hope I could one day publish a book of my own around eight years ago.
Since then, I’ve had two almost opportunities, and at least six formal rejections from different publishers.
But despite the set-backs, I held onto the hope that one day this dream would come true.
I’ll share more details on how this opportunity came to be in time, but for now, please know that sometimes there are a lot of ‘no’s’ before a ‘yes’, so don’t stop believing in yourself and your dreams.

This is the best news I’ve heard all week, how exciting! I’ll be purchasing this as soon as it’s made available. I’d loveee for you to include your carrot cake or carrot cake muffins, snickerdoodles, honey cake, all things citrus, and ahhh, oh there’s just so many recipes of yours that I love, I can’t wait! All the best with your new chapter and this next venture. x

How kind of you April! Thank you sooo much. I definitely think some of those need to make it in there! I’ve had a few requests for my Carrot Cake and the Snickerdoodles are one of my favourites for sure! Look forward to sharing more progress soon!

Since there’s only two of us at home, the Small Batch recipes are my fav. I love all of your recipes, though, and can’t wait to get your cookbook.
Jessica Holmes says
Thank you Cheryl! I so appreciate your support!
Laurina says
WooHoo! Congrats and thank you!
Had a think and reckon the most intriguing recipe I receive praise and interest about is your “White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies”.
It’s the orange zest (sometimes I substitute mandarin zest) that’s the fun, unexpeted tastebud surprise.
Also, I love your themed blog posts, like “Festive baking” etc
Yay!
Jessica Holmes says
How wonderful! Thank you for the feedback Laurina!
Debbie Freeman says
Hi Jess, we love your Funfetti Chocolate chip cookies, my daughter makes them all the time, would love to see them in your book. Congratulations!
Jessica Holmes says
Thanks so much Debbie! I love those cookies too!
Mrs Dawn Bargent-Gotch says
Your basic vanilla sponge cake is one of the best I’ve ever made and it always receives praise for whomever I bake it for. The cinnamon Apple cake is also a winner.
Including both of these in your book should be a must.
Keep me posted I would love one of your books.
Jessica Holmes says
Thank you so much! I love both of those recipes too. I will definitely keep you posted!!
Shannon says
This is such amazing news and I cannot wait. Massive congratulations !!
I would love some loaf cake variations like – caramel, coffee and chocolate, triple chocolate, carrot cake and whatever you may come with.
Would also love some more simple square tin bakes – any flavour really, just find these sort of cakes easy.
A few fancy celebration style cakes.
Pretzels.
Homemade Tim Tams.
Coconut oat biscuits.
Something minty.
Something lemony.
Lots of caramel options.
Cinnamon things.
A no bake section – would particularly love something sweet and salty. So I’m thinking good old slice type and biscuit type things here.
Your all time favorites.
A section on toppings and cake fillings to use that aren’t buttercream.
Tips and tricks.
Cannot wait to see what you do me up with. Good luck!
Jessica Holmes says
Thank you so much Shannon! I agree, definitely some loaf cakes in there. Lots of awesome suggestions here! Thank you!
Shelley says
My favourites are olive oil based chocolate cake -spiced apple- & carrot cake
My now 11 yr old grandson can make
Olive oil brownies on his own he loves them.
Will look out for your cook book.
Jessica Holmes says
Oh wow! That’s so lovely to hear Shelley! Thank you for your suggestions. And well done to your grandson!
Linda says
Can’t wait for your book to hit the shelves.
I keep coming back to your easy fruit cake recipe, my husband just loves it with a coffee.
Would love to see this in your book.
The only adjustments I made to it was I add a touch of lemon and almond essence to intensify the flavours even more.
So many people think of a fruit cake as an old persons cake and this recipe is certainly not that.
Love all your recipes.
Jessica Holmes says
Oh I love hearing that Linda. One of my all-time favourite recipes as well – it definitely has to make it in there!
Lorinda Gregory says
Congratulations Jess
Your coconut pound cake has been a hit every time I make it, some people don’t believe I made it and insist it’s store bought.
Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of your book, I know it will be like an heirloom that I pass down to my daughter’s.
Jessica Holmes says
Wow how awesome is that Lorinda! Thank you so much for your kind feedback!
Eli says

Sue says

Jessica Holmes says
Thank you so much Sue! The Apple Cake is definitely going to go in there. Thank you for your vote!!
Loretta Vandenberg says
Hi from southern Ontario Canada.
I love your recipes. My favourites are the coconut cake, Anzac cookies and pretty much sell of them. I’ve printed quite a few that I use regularly. 😀
I’m excited about your cookbook. Would it be available in Canada?
Jessica Holmes says
How wonderful to hear Loretta! Thank you so much for your suggestions. I’m working hard to make sure it’s available worldwide.
