Sweet and Salty Chocolate Slice

An easy no bake Sweet and Salty Chocolate Slice loaded with pretzels. cookies, rice cereal and peanuts and topped with dark chocolate and chocolate malt balls.


  • 240 ml (1 cup) sweetened condensed milk
  • 200 grams (1 and 1/3 cup) good quality dark chocolate
  • 60 grams (1/4 cup) unsalted butter
  • 100 grams (1 cup) store-bought biscuits or cookies, crushed
  • 30 grams (3/4 cup) Rice Bubbles or Rice Krispies
  • 50 grams (1/2 cup) pretzels, crushed
  • 30 grams (1/4 cup) roasted salted peanuts, chopped
  • Pinch of salt

Chocolate topping

  • 200 grams (1 and 1/3 cup) good quality dark chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Roasted salted peanuts, to decorate
  • Pretzels, to decorate
  • Malt balls, to decorate


  1. Line an 8 inch square baking pan with baking or parchment paper. Add the condensed milk to a large mixing bowl. In a separate heatproof bowl, add the chocolate and butter and melt in the microwave, stirring every 20 seconds, until just melted. Stir together until smooth.
  2. Add your chocolate to your condensed milk, along with the crushed biscuits or cookies, rice cereal, pretzels, peanuts and salt. Stir until completely covered and then pour the mixture into your prepared pan. Smooth over the top. Pop in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a large heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate in the microwave for the topping. Stir often until just melted, add oil and stir until smooth. Pour chocolate over the top of your slice. Add peanuts, pretzels and malt balls. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until set. Then cut into squares to serve.
