Everyone needs a good baked chocolate slice recipe but there are days when a No Bake Chocolate Slice is simply the answer.

Easy ✓ Quick ✓ Delicious ✓

This chewy and crunchy Chocolate Slice is pure heaven. Made with store bought cookies, shredded coconut and rice cereal, it’s deliciously crispy.

Mixed with sweetened condensed milk, melted dark chocolate and butter, it quickly sets to form the perfect chocolate slice.

The final touch is a layer of milk chocolate 👌🏻

Description

A gorgeous no bake Chocolate Slice topped with milk chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams (2 cups) store bought cookies*, broken into pieces
  • 40 grams (1 cup) Rice Bubbles or Rice Krispies
  • 30 grams (1/2 cup) shredded coconut
  • 200 grams (1 and 1/3 cup) dark chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 60 grams (1/4 cup) unsalted butter
  • 240 ml (1 cup) sweetened condensed milk
  • 200 grams (1 and 1/3 cup) milk chocolate

Instructions

  1. Grease and line an 8 inch square baking pan with baking or parchment, ensuring two sides overhang.
  2. Add cookies to a food processor and whiz until finely crushed. In a large mixing bowl, stir together crushed cookies, Rice Bubbles and coconut.
  3. Add dark chocolate, butter and condensed milk into a mixing bowl. Heat in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds, until smooth and creamy.
  4. Pour mixture over dry ingredients and mix quickly. When everything is coated with chocolate, pour into prepared tin and spread out into one layer. Place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes or until firm.
  5. Add milk chocolate to a small bowl and melt in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds, until smooth. Pour over slice and leave to set. Cut into small slices and serve.

Notes

*You can use any sweet store bought cookies like Graham Crackers, Digestive Biscuits or Arnott’s Granitas.

    Can I freeze this slice?

Hi Ess, to be honest, I’ve never frozen it – it always goes too fast! But I think it might go a little soggy in the freezer.

Hi again Jess, I’ve made this slice a couple of times now, and each time I get slightly different degrees of crispy-ness with the rice bubbles…. I’m not sure what I’ve done differently though… As you are queen of awesome recipes, do you have any tips for keeping rice bubbles crispy?

Hi Ingrid! Great question! I’ve had that happen before when my Rice Bubbles aren’t fresh. If they’ve been sitting in the cupboard for a bit (even if they taste ok) I find they don’t have the same resilience to moisture. Try using a new box of Rice Bubbles next time and see if that helps. Also when adding the liquid ingredients, stir quickly and press into your tin straight away. If you let it sit for a few minutes you run the risk of the cereal going a little soggy. Alternatively, you can leave them out and use 50 grams extra crushed cookies. Hope that helps – and thank you for trying one of my recipes! ☺️

    Hello Jessica!
Sweetened condensed milk, can I use something instead of that?
    Thanks, Ásdís

Thanks for sharing your recipes, appreciate that you also give measurements as I am hopeless using cups even though I ordered ones that are American measurements.
