So many food moments happen by accident. We definitely had one when we walked into Magnolia Bakery in New York. I fell in love when I arrived, with the cute decor and the rows and rows of perfectly shaped cupcakes. We chose a red velvet cupcake and a chocolate cupcake, when the sweet lady serving us said, “Have you tried our banana pudding?” We said no and she gave us a look and said, “You HAVE to try our banana pudding.” Promptly serving us with samples, we took one spoonful, looked at each other and said “We’ll have a large tub of that too please!”
Basically a messy mixture of cream, wafers and bananas, this pudding was amazing. Honestly, we were so taken with it, we repeated the order a few times over the next week. I also subsequently tried the Snickers Ice Box, which tasted exactly like a snickers bar but with cream and chocolate biscuits. Incredible. And a few of their cupcakes, I particularly love their chocolate chocolate one. I have since found out Magnolia Bakery has the recipe for their famous Banana Pudding inside one of their cookbooks, however it has some typically American ingredients so I think I need to work on an Australian version of the recipe so we can eat this at home.
