Two ingredient Homemade Chocolate Freckles for the win! 🙌🏻
One of my favourite childhood treats is Chocolate Freckles. Creamy milk chocolate topped with colourful sprinkles, known here in Australia, as hundreds and thousands.
Now we can all enjoy these gorgeous treats at home! ❤️
Do they have Chocolate Freckles where you live? I’m not sure if these are just an Australian treat, but regardless, you need to try them at home.
They are SO easy to make. They only take about 10 minutes with just 2 ingredients.
They’re perfect for a kid’s party! 🎉 Or just an anytime snack for the sprinkle-obsessed like me.
So how do you make these sweet chocolate treats? Using a mini muffin pan of course! You just need some mini muffin liners and away you go.
This recipe can easily be adapted to whatever you chocolate you prefer, you can make these with milk chocolate, dark chocolate or even white chocolate!
I think the best part of making these freckles is finding fun ways to use them. Of course eating them straight up goes without saying!
But you can also use them as cute cupcake toppers or to decorate cookies like my Chocolate Fudge Cookies. Or make big ones for a giant chocolate freckle ice cream sandwich! Yes please!

Homemade Chocolate Freckles
Milk chocolate topped with sprinkles.
Ingredients
- 225 grams (1 and 1/2 cups) good quality milk or dark chocolate
- 1/2 cup colourful hundreds and thousands
Instructions
- Place about 30 mini muffin liners onto a large tray. Then melt your chocolate in the microwave, stirring every 20 seconds, until smooth.
- Using a teaspoon, gently pour a small amount of chocolate into each mimi muffin hole and then sprinkle over hundreds and thousands until the chocolate is completely covered. Continue until you run out of chocolate. Pop the freckles into the fridge for a few hours to set.
Notes
You can also use cookie cutters or other items you find around the house to make bigger freckles or interesting shapes. Just lightly grease them with a bit of butter if you are worried about the chocolate sticking.
