A quick weekend away for a friend’s wedding had me on the hunt for the best sweets Melbourne could offer. One pleasant memory was wandering down the hip but somewhat grungy laneway Degraves and stumbling upon the hole-in-the-wall snack joint, Waffle On. We chose the Canadian, a delicious crisp waffle served with creamy vanilla ice cream and plenty of maple syrup. Yum! Another of Melbourne's hidden gems is Manchester Press.
Tucked away down a vacated laneway, this surprisingly busy breakfast venue has a menu that consists almost solely of bagels. If that isn’t impressive enough, the unique combinations and generous portion sizes certainly made me one happy customer. I ordered the fruit and nut bagel with mixed berry mascarpone, strawberries and pistachio ‘dust’ (much better than crumbs). As the photo demonstrates, they were extremely generous with the toppings and this combination was absolutely delightful! Can you come to Brisbane please?
