Have you ever wanted to know how to make chocolate cups without tempering chocolate or buying expensive moulds? I have a quick and easy solution that will have you serving gorgeous homemade desserts in no time. These cute dark chocolate cups can be filled with anything you please, from chocolate mousse to fresh berries and cream. Plus they are a cinch to make!
I made my chocolate cups using mini silicone cupcake moulds. They are sold in many department or baking stores but I actually found mine in Daiso for just $2.80. Bargain! You only need one ingredient to make these - good quality dark chocolate. I used Nestle Plaistowe dark chocolate for mine and it worked well. It is best to steer clear of cheap compound chocolate or even chocolate chips for this recipe.
Dark Chocolate Dessert Cups
1. Break up your chocolate into a small microwave proof bowl and place in the microwave for 20 second bursts, stirring in between, until your chocolate is just melted.
2. One at a time, pour teaspoons of the melted chocolate into your silcone moulds and swirl around so the bottom and sides are fully coated. Place the mould into a mini cupcake tin to help keep its shape. Repeat with the remaining chocolate and moulds. Place the cupcake tin in the freezer for 15 minutes or until chocolate is firm.
3. Remove tin from the freezer. Very gently pull back the silicone mould to reveal the finished chocolate mould. Voila! Fill moulds with your desired filling.
